Phonics/ Reading/ Letterland workshop

This workshop is designed to provide parents, teachers and au pairs with ideas to stimulate a child’s love of and interest in phonics and reading. All the ideas are useful, simple and make use of items we have at home. Attendees make a small book; discover how to use newspaper supplements and cereal boxes to encourage reading. Creative ideas and 20 easy games appropriate for 3 to 8 year olds are shared. Reading is essential for learning. Don’t miss this workshop!

Numbers/maths workshop

This workshop provides hands-on experience for parents, teachers and au pairs as they play with smarties, paper plates, egg boxes etc. Concepts such as more than, less than, same, different, sorting, estimating etc are taught through play using items which children aged 3 to 8 will find exciting and interesting! By creating an awareness of the numbers around us, we provide the child with an excellent foundation to build upon. Counting becomes exciting because what I am counting is exciting! This workshop provides ideas and opportunities to experience concepts in the concrete which is the fundamental building block to learning! You will never look at a box of smarties in the same way again!

Handwriting

This workshop provides parents, teachers and au pairs with a wonderful tactile experience as they use a small tray and many different mediums to write, draw, form letters, numbers, patterns and play. 3 to 8 year olds will love these ideas. Noughts and crosses, numbers and letters, fine and gross motor activities and much more! You will have the neighbours children knocking on your door asking to play!

Card games

This workshop teaches 20 + fabulous games for 3 to 8 year olds using cards. Make your own from cereal boxes or use bridge cards, snap cards, whatever you have at home! Train your child’s memory through PLAY! Have fun while improving visual memory, visual sequential memory, sort, add, subtract, build words and lots more!

2 to 4 year old workshop

This workshop is designed to empower parents, teachers and au pairs to feel confident in their ability to extend and stimulate 2 to 4 year olds through play. Body image, music, books, painting, sand play, water play and appropriate games etc are covered.
